COMPARISON

Tengwar vs Tandem for Klingon and Dothraki

Tandem relies on finding a human exchange partner. For natural languages that works well. For Klingon, Dothraki, and Elvish, the partner pool is tiny — and Tengwar exists to fill that gap.

The short answer

Tandem is a language exchange app where you practise with native or fluent speakers of your target language. It lists Klingon as a supported language, but active Klingon exchange partners are extremely rare. Dothraki and Elvish are not supported at all. Even when partners exist, there is no structured curriculum — you are left to design every session yourself.

Tengwar is built specifically for constructed languages. It provides a 21-lesson Klingon course, a 21-lesson Dothraki course, and a 25-lesson Elvish course — all with grammar explanations, exercises, and a built-in AI tutor (Mithrandir) that is available any time you want to practise conversation or ask a grammar question.
