What it does

A "Test Ahead" check on a not-yet-started chapter (or a full placement test from onboarding) asks you a mix of multiple-choice and short-answer questions. If you pass, the lessons that chapter covers are marked complete — without you having to sit through them.

Nothing about a placement check touches your XP or streak, and you can stop partway and come back — your answers are saved as you go. If you don't pass cleanly, some lessons may still be marked complete based on what you got right, and the rest stay open to work through normally.

What testing out does not give you

Lessons you test out of are marked complete with 0 XP. Testing out proves you already know the material — it isn't a way to farm XP for lessons you skip.

Free accounts are only tested on non-Premium lessons; if a chapter is entirely Premium-locked, there's nothing to test in it and you'll be prompted to upgrade instead.

Common questions

Why isn't "Test Ahead" showing on a chapter?
It only appears for a chapter you haven't started yet. Once you begin a lesson in that chapter, the option disappears — the material is no longer "ahead" of you.
How many times can I try?
Up to 3 attempts per chapter per day, so a first try that doesn't go well can be retried without waiting.
Do I get XP for passing?
No — placement is deliberately XP-free, to keep it separate from lesson progress you actually earned by working through the material.
